Centipod Wave Energy Rebrands as Anacapa Wavepower

Anacapa Island

Santa Barbara, CA – May 9, 2024 – Centipod Wave Energy today announced a significant rebranding, changing its name to Anacapa Wavepower.

Anacapa Island, part Channel Islands National Park and Marine Sanctuary, is home to a beautiful and healthy marine ecosystem that provides inspiration to the team in their efforts to continue pushing the boundaries of clean energy. The island is also namesake for Anacapa Street in Santa Barbara, the street where the company began over a decade ago.

As part of the rebrand, Centipod Wave Energy’s product line will also undergo a name change. The existing “C1P” prefix will be replaced with “AC,” with the numbering system representing the device diameter. For example, the C1P6 wave energy converter will now be known as the AC6.

Alan McCall, Director of Anacapa Wavepower: “As our technology has evolved, the ‘Centipod’ label no longer reflected the design and functionality of our wave energy converters. Anacapa, inspired by our founding location, symbolizes our roots and observes the beauty of Anacapa Island. We’re very excited about the next chapter of our business under this new banner.”
